  • Who is Emirates Foundation?
    Emirates Foundation was launched in April 2005 as an initiative of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his then capacity as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. It is chaired by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Emirates Foundation is a national organization set up to facilitate public-private funded initiatives to unite social responsibility across the UAE by implementing research-based programs that meet the country’s needs towards sustainable community development.
    The Foundation works with public and private sector partners to meet national goals, respond to society’s most pressing challenges and contribute to the development of national competencies through digital smart platforms as defined through data-driven social needs
  • What is IAVE?
    IAVE stands for the International Association for Volunteering efforts (IAVE) and exists to promote, strengthen and celebrate volunteering in all of the myriad ways it happens throughout the world. With members in 70+ countries, IAVE is the connective tissue of a global network of leaders of volunteering, NGOs, businesses and volunteer centers that share a belief in the power of volunteers to make a significant strategic contribution to resolving the world’s most pressing problems.
  • What is the IAVE World Volunteer Conference about?
    The IAVE World Volunteer Conference is part of the USA-based International Association for Volunteer Efforts (IAVE) which began in 1970 with the birth of the organisation and takes place every two years in a different country around the world. The conference aims to bring together the volunteering community from across the world to share their experiences, learn from one another and build bridges across cultural, political and linguistic barriers.
  • What is the Format of the Conference?
    The conference includes a series of stimulating plenaries and workshops with inspirational speakers and experts from around the World. Workshops include compelling topics, discussions and debates on challenging issues confronting the volunteering sector around the World.
  • Who usually attends the IAVE World Volunteering Conference?
    The World Volunteer Conference brings together participants from civil society, government sectors, and corporations to share and explore how volunteers as agents of change provide the practical action that builds hope and resilience, improves lives and strengthens communities.
  • Where and when will the conference take place?
    Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is the host city for the 26th World Volunteer Conference being held from 24-27 October 2022 at the ADNEC Business Center.
  • What is the theme of the 26th IAVE World Volunteering Conference?
    The Theme is “Volunteering for the Common Good: Making Life Better for People and Communities”.
  • What are the highlights of the conference agenda?
    The 26th World Volunteering Conference includes the following topics:

  • How can I register to attend the WVC?
    All Registrations must be conducted through the WVC website and World Volunteer Conference Mobile App

  • Is Preregistration required?
    On-site registration will be available on the day of the event, however we strongly encourage registration prior to the event.
    Card payments will be only accepted for on-site registrations during the conference, and pre-registrations must be carried out through the website.
  • Is the event free of charge?
    No, there are different registration categories and fees; for more details, please refer to the Pricing and Terms Section on the website https://www.wvc2022.ae/registration
  • How can I pay registration fees?
    • Payments may be made with cards {VISA, MasterCard}, or wire transfers for pre-conference date registrations.
    • All registration fees will be processed in U.S. Dollars ($).
    • VISA and MasterCard card payments will be processed through www.adapayuat.bankfab.com where U.S. Dollars ($) 0.82 service charges will apply and will be borne by the registrant.
    • Only card payments will be accepted for on-site registrations during the conference, and preregistrations must be done through the website
    • Registration fees processed through bank transfers, wire transfers, Western Union, and MoneyGram must be sent to Emirates Foundation’s bank account as per the below details:

    Transfer costs shall be borne by the registrant (sender) and registration fees should arrive net of any bank or transmission bank charges.

  • Will accommodation, flight, and transportation be provided?
    Accommodation, flight, and transportation will NOT be provided, and registrants are responsible for securing flights and making their own bookings and arrangements for the event as per announced dates. (Different terms apply to speakers and individuals receiving the WVC scholarships)
  • Will meals be provided?
    During the event, coffee breaks, lunch and snacks will be provided at the venue for all participants
  • Will a UAE Visa be provided?
    • The procedure to obtain a visa to enter the UAE is dependent on the country of origin of the request.
    • It is the sole responsibility of the participant to secure their visa on time and provide all necessary documents.
    • For those who are required to obtain a UAE visa:
      • Kindly contact the Embassy or UAE Consulate in your country to obtain details of the documents required to process a visa application.
      • In the case that a UAE embassy or consulate is not available in your country, please contact the closest UAE consulate to your country.
      • WVC will not be responsible if a registrant does not receive their visa on time to travel, and no refunds can be made.
  • Can I cancel my registration and receive a refund?
    • For cancellation requests received by end of October 4th, 2022 (+4GMT), a refund of 50% of the registration fee can be made. Bank refund charges if applicable will be borne by registrar.
    • For cancellation requests received after October 4th, 2022 (+4GMT), no refund will be made.
    • All cancellation requests must be sent to wvc2022@emiratesfoundation.ae and received by the date and time as mentioned above.
    • Refunds will be made to the same mode of payment.
  • How to benefit from Early Registration Rates?
    To benefit from Early Registration Rates, registrant must make sure to complete the payment before August 12, 2022 (+4GMT) and send the evidence of transaction confirmation by email to wvc2022@emiratesfoundation.ae, otherwise early registration will be canceled, and registrant will need to reregister and pay based on the Regular Registration Rates
  • How to benefit from “Group Registration” Rates?
    To benefit from “Group Registration” Rates, the focal point should complete the registration for a minimum of 5 members in the same Group Registration Form.   • Can I transfer my registration?
    • Paid registrations can be transferred to another individual who qualifies for the same registration category and fee for no extra charge.
    • The original registrant must email wvc2022@emiratesfoundation.ae to initiate the transfer.
  • Will I receive a refund in case of Late Arrival, Early Departure or No Show?
    No refunds will be made, or credits given, for late arrival or early departure from the conference or in case of no show.
  • Are there any special requirements related to COVID-19 to attend the WVC?
    By registering for the conference, participants are consenting to abide by the safety and precautionary measures in the United Arab Emirates to contain the spread of COVID-19.
    Participants are also agreeing to apportion no blame to Emirates Foundation and the International Association for Volunteer Effort for any injury, illness or loss.
    Participants will adhere to all UAE COVID-19 requirements while in the country.

    To enter the conference venue, all participants and guests, vaccinated and un-vaccinated, are required to present a negative PCR test for COVID-19 conducted within 48 hours.
    Vaccinated participants will need to provide certification of a COVID-19 vaccination. This will need to be a government recognized certificate from your country of residence.
    Participants will be responsible for meeting any COVID-19 restrictions imposed by their own country regulations including re-entry requirements. It is advisable that they check these requirements in advance of confirming any travel arrangements.
    Participants, delegates and speakers are required to download the Al Hosn application for mobile phones as it is a requirement for entering many venues and attractions within the UAE.
  • Are there any dress code and etiquette guidelines to attend the conference?
    • All participants should dress modestly. Clothing should not be transparent, indecently exposing parts of the body or displaying offensive pictures or slogans.
    • We advise participants to follow the dress code guidelines below:
      • Gala dinner: Formal business attire is mandatory
      • Conference Days: Formal Business atire, please refer to the dress code guidelines
      • Site visits: Comfortable casual outfits
    • Participants need to be responsible visitors and follow the social etiquettes in the UAE.
  • Is there an option of virtual attendance at the conference?
    Virtual attendance is not available for this event. All attendees should be present in-person to facilitate the exchange of experience and knowledge.
  • Will my dietary requirements be catered for?
    catering at the conference will endeavour to provide a range of choices to meet a variety of dietary needs.
  • Will transportation be provided from Dubai to Abu Dhabi for those coming through Dubai Airport?
    Transportation will NOT be provided, and registrants are responsible for making their own transportation arrangements for the event as per announced dates, considering that average cost would be $110 (Different terms apply to speakers and individuals receiving the WVC scholarships)
